EST 1891: Buxton Lime receives brand refresh

February 2, 2022

We are proud to be celebrating a new era at Tarmac’s Buxton Lime operation with the launch of a new brand identity.

Based at Tunstead in the Peak District National Park, our lime division has an updated look to support its ongoing strategy a fresh approach that reflects the heritage, location and quality of products supplied by the business.

Lime has been produced in the Buxton area of Derbyshire for centuries and is now manufactured locally at Tarmac’s Tunstead and Hindlow quarries.

Kate Szafranski, graphic design manager for Tarmac, worked alongside our senior team to develop a new identity reflective of the brand’s rich history. As part of this, a series of branding exercises determined the key elements needed to shape the redesign with colours, words, images and out-of-sector ideas all considered and inspiring a new-look logo.

Kate said: “Rebranding such a heritage product line isn’t without risk; you never know how a new look will be received. By working with the team all the way through the process and listening to what they wanted for the business and our customers, we managed to achieve a unanimous vote for the final logo, which is about as good a response as you can ask for.”

Graham Cooper, Tarmac’s lime director, added: “We are really proud of the results of this branding exercise. Those involved thoroughly enjoyed the development work with our marketing experts and it was great to take a step back, reflect on our history and think about who we are as a business.

“Carrying out the exercise has also served as an ideal opportunity to further demonstrate our expertise to our customers and partners, also reinforcing our position as an industry leader.”
