Local residents and visitors approaching Buxton via Fairfield Road will have a brighter welcome to the town, now that flower planters have been installed on railings along that route.
The Buxton Town Team is working on a project to improve Fairfield Road as the ‘Gateway to Buxton’. With sponsorship from local company Tarmac to cover some of the costs, the group has been able to install 12 planters on this main approach road to the spa town.
Richard Lower of the Buxton Town Team said: “Along with many other projects we are working on, we are looking to improve Fairfield Road and position it as an important ‘Gateway to Buxton’. With financial support from Tarmac, and practical help from local residents who are watering and maintaining the flowers, we have been able to install 12 planters on all the railings here. We hope that the results will give drivers and pedestrians a much brighter impression as they enter the town.”
Pete Butterworth, Tarmac’s stone and powders general manager, added: “The planters and flowers have made a real difference to the impression you get as you enter and leave Buxton via Fairfield Road. With this key road being on the doorstep of our Tunstead operation, we were very pleased to be able to support the Town Team with such a practical and important project.”
