Blythe House Hospice’s annual Light up a Life appeal has received sponsorship from local company Tarmac for a 12th year. But this year the £1000 donation has come partly through an employee safety campaign.
Pete Butterworth, Stone and Powders General Manager, explained: “We have a long-standing relationship with Blythe House but this year we have supported them in a different way which involved our employees more directly. In support of an on-site safety campaign, employees were asked to vote for a local charity to receive a significant donation. Blythe House was overwhelmingly the number one choice.”
The £1000 is part of Tarmac’s annual sponsorship of the charity’s Light up a Life appeal which allows people to remember loved ones, celebrate special occasions and support the services at Blythe House.
All money raised from Light up a Life will be used entirely to fund the services provided by Blythe House, which are available for anyone in the High Peak living with cancer or other serious illnesses.
Blythe House Hospice Fundraising and Events Coordinator, Rebecca Gregory added: “This year we have experienced a huge increase in demand for our Hospice at Home service which was launched in 2016. Seeing this demand for end of life care within people’s homes has made it more important than ever that we continue to raise the money required to fund our much-needed services.
“It is hugely appreciated that the staff at Tarmac selected Blythe House as their chosen charity. We are incredibly grateful for Tarmac’s on-going support.”
