Alejandro Soria has been appointed as the new Plant manager at Tarmac’s Tunstead cement manufacturing operation.
Tunstead cement plant employs around 105 people and plays an important role in the supply of cement to the construction industry.
Alejandro (Alex), who previously held the role of production manager at the site, began working in the cement industry as a graduate in Spain in 2007. He then went on to work in four cement plants between Spain and the UK, before moving to the UK and starting work as optimisation manager in 2016.
He said: “Tunstead cement plant is a flagship site in the Tarmac network. I am looking forward to leading the team here with my priority being to focus on the health and safety of employees, contractors and visitors. With several exciting projects underway here, I will also continue to work on improving how the plant delivers for its customers, employees and the local community.”
Tunstead cement has been used in many major projects around the UK including The Shard in London, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool and the new HS2 (high-speed railway) with its 109-mile phase one project.
