Peak Forest pupils show of bright new look for Forest School

November 26, 2020

The darker winter days is not stopping pupils at Peak Forest CE Primary School from enjoying outdoor learning and Forest School lessons. Sporting bright new high visibility waistcoats, they can now get outside and be easily seen on their walk to the woods.

The waistcoats have been donated by local company Tarmac who operate the Tunstead cement and lime site and quarry. Tarmac puts safety at the top of its list of priorities in all its operations and uses a wide range of high visibility personal protective equipment on its own sites.

Commenting on the donation, Janet Measham, Peak Forest School Business manager says: “The children are absolutely thrilled to have received a full set of high vis vests from Tarmac to wear when they go on their Forest school sessions. The staff are really pleased that the children are safer and more visible now which is especially important as the days become darker through the winter months. Big thanks to Tarmac!”

Darren Hall – Health & Safety Advisor at the Tunstead cement plant, adds: “Understanding the importance of safety is more important now than ever and here at Tarmac Tunstead it is fundamental to our work. We understand that outdoor engagement with nature is crucial for the development and wellbeing of young people and so we are delighted to have made an impact on the safety of pupils in the local school environment”.

Peak Forest CE Primary School pupils are already getting good use out of their new high visibility waistcoats.
